These pictures are pre-East Coast heatwave.  I miss the heatwave. The heat doesn't bother me one bit. I'm sure it doesn't hurt that I basically only spend the amount of time it takes for me to get from my air conditioned house to my air conditioned car outside. Unless I'm on the beach or by a pool, in which case I could sit there in the heat all day, just give me a bottle of water. I could easily move somewhere that's hot all year round. I'd take a heatwave over a blizzard any day. As one of my friends put it "You don't have to shovel heat."

I haven't been taking outfit pictures anymore. I've lost interest a bit, and I've basically just been wearing simple sundresses or cut offs and a t-shirt. Isn't that the beauty of summer though?

What I'm Reading: July 21, 2011

Suzanne Collins
I'm sure this is old news to everyone. And to be honest, I finished these weeks ago. It took me about three days to read them all. They're that addictive. Reading the synopsis of the first one, it definitely did not catch my attention. It's not something I would ever pick up. But the girls I work with were all raving about them and I trust their judgement in books so I went to Barnes & Noble, gift card in hand. And these did not disappoint. Join the herd, they're right this time.

This isn't like that whole Twilight debacle. The herd lost some street cred with that crap.

Even if it was addictive crap.

P.S. The price for the whole boxed set (linked above) is really good!

30 Day Photo Challenge - Day 1

Day 1 - A picture of your birthplace

This is my mom.

I was born in Malden, Massachusetts and I wasn't about to drive there to get a picture of the hospital. Hello, traffic. I could have been all lame and taken a picture of a tree or something and said "I felt truly born and alive when I saw this tree" but that would be a lie.

So I went super, super literal. And right to the source.

Also, isn't my mom so sassy?

30 Day Photo Challenge

I just started doing this photo challenge on Facebook just for fun, and thought I would share the challenge on here as well. Each day there is a new category you have to post a picture for. Here is the list of what each day's photo should be about:

Day 1 - A photo of your birthplace.
Day 2 - If I wasn't me, who or what would I be?
Day 3 - Where I go to escape the world.
Day 4 - Look into my eyes, you'll see . . .
Day 5 - On my day off, my favourite thing to do.
Day 6 - The first thing I'd buy if I won lotto.
Day 7 - One person in history I'd like to spend a day with.
Day 8 - Look into my heart, you'll see . . .
Day 9 - My favourite food.
Day 10 - If I could go back into my past, what event would I revisit?
Day 11 - My best friend, and why I love them.
Day 12 - My first Pet
Day 13 - My Favourite Outfit
Day 14 - My first big Mistake
Day 15 - Favourite Movie
Day 16 - My Safe Haven
Day 17 - My strongest childhood memory
Day 18 - My first boyfriend/girlfriend
Day 19 - My favourite character from a book/movie
Day 20 - If I could have one Super Power, what would it be?
Day 21 - My worst fashion Faux Pas
Day 22 - What is Love to you?
Day 23 - If I could change one thing . . .
Day 24 - My biggest indulgence.
Day 25 - I can't do without . . .
Day 26 - On a cold, wet/snowy night, I love . . .
Day 27 - My biggest weakness
Day 28 - My biggest strength
Day 29 - My ultimate house
Day 30 - If you really knew me, you would know . . .

Some of them are pretty corny, but I thought it would be fun to get creative with it. Let me know if you're doing this as well!

This dress always reminds me of a Girl Scout uniform when I wear it. I don't mind that. It reminds me of Troop Beverly Hills, which is awesome. I added my leopard belt to give it a bit of a Girl-Scout-on-safari kind of vibe. And because I like leopard things.

And these shoes? I've had them for at least six years. They used to be one of the highest pair of heels I owned, now they are the lowest. Oh how times have changed! But they are my go-to shoes when I need to be look cute and also walk over cobblestones in the summer. You'd be surprised as to how often that happens.

all the funny things you do

I'm back from a little blogging summer vacation. A lot of reading and spending time with friends has been happening lately and I just couldn't bring myself to be in front of the computer when I was home. I expect things will continue to be a bit sporadic for the summer, and a little bit different, too. Less outfit posts and more of my normal life posts.

These are from the week leading up to the 4th. I had a lot of red, white and blue outfits stretched out across that week. Red, white and blue is one of my favorite color combinations but I always feel weird wearing it when it's not Fourth of July. So when the 4th does come around, I go all out.

The weather finally got the hint that it's summer and started warming up around here! It's been nice and hot and sunny with the occasional thunderstorm or rain storm - perfect. Good thing, too. I just bought a white bathing suit and it just isn't going to look good without a nice, golden tan! ;)

To be honest, I went a little bathing suit crazy this year. Losing 20lbs + warm weather = bikini overload! It felt so liberating to toss all my ill-fitting ones too. Isn't that the best? Being able to donate all the clothes that are too big for you suddenly?

and the snozzberries taste like snozzberries!

I just had a thought, you guys.

You all know the scene in Willy Wonka when they lick the wallpaper because it tastes like whatever is printed on it?

What if this was real. What if they put this to use in cookbooks. "Hm, this recipe looks good, but will I like it? Should I take the time to procure these ingredients and then slave in my kitchen for hours trying to make this happen? Let me just lick the page first to make sure it's worth it."

How amazing would that be?!

Because come on guys...don't you all just want to lick this right now?
