Dinner Date

I wore this out to dinner just about a month ago now. This last month just FLEW by. Boyfriend and I had dinner in the South End after we'd signed our lease. Now we've been moved in for almost a month!

I seriously love this outfit. I feel like this is the kind of look I'm constantly striving for. Simple and chic with a bit of bling. Boyfriend was making fun of me because while I was deciding what to wear I had my "outfit inspiration" file open and was blatantly copying different outfits I have saved, haha. I KNOW I'm not the only one that does this, so don't judge! ;)

Also, these are the most comfortable heels I own currently. I hardly ever have good luck with Aldo shoes, but these are keepers. The heel is perfect, the shape is perfect, and they're easy to walk in. Boyfriend even thought they were sexy. Definite all-star shoe.

Sweater: H&M
Necklace: Forever 21
Jeans: American Eagle
Heels: Aldo
Me Factor: High - nailed it!

Conversations with My Boyfriend: Ice Cream

Me: What do you want for dinner?

Boyfriend: I don't know. What were you gonna make?

Me: Well I have like a half a box of spaghetti, but only enough for me so I'd have to make you like a half a box of ziti... then there's some leftover sauce, and some leftover mozzarella...basically leftover pasta bits.

Boyfriend: I guess I'll just go out and get something for myself.

Me: You'll go out and get something!? What about me!

Boyfriend: Well you said there was only enough spaghetti for you, so I'll just get something else for me.

Me: That's real selfish. Real selfish.

Boyfriend: Well what did you want to do?

Me: GET ICE CREAM. How is that not the next logical conclusion?

Boyfriend: *burst of laughter* *shakes head*

Me: I don't understand how you don't go from "oh making dinner will be a hassle" directly to "ice cream is the solution".

Boyfriend: Ice cream isn't my favorite.

Me: Ice cream is a meal, if you do it correctly.

Boyfriend: No it's not. Plus, I have it every day at work, so I never really want it after that.

Me: WHAT. You eat ice cream every day at work?!

Boyfriend: Just like a scoop.

Me: Oh my God, what kind?

Boyfriend: Vanilla. Just one spoonful.

Me: That's the saddest thing ever. Your life is so sad. That one tiny spoon of vanilla ice cream is enough for you.

Boyfriend: I don't really even like ice cream.

Me: It's like you're not a real person. What is wrong with you.

Boyfriend: *shrugs* So what do you want for dinner?

In case you're wondering, I ended up getting ice cream with a girlfriend who is normal.

This Time Last Year

Sorry for the prolonged absence on the blog. I was moving, and work has been crazy, and by the time I have a minute to myself to relax, I just haven't felt much like blogging.

In fact, I think things might continue to be a bit quiet over here for awhile. I'm becoming less and less inclined to take outfit pictures, and I really don't want to force myself to do something that I'm just not finding enjoyable anymore. I'm sure I'll still include them every once in awhile, but expect to see less of them right now.

I keep telling myself the whole point of blogging (for me) and my reason behind keeping up with it is so I have something to look back on. Then it occurred to me I never really look back at my posts. So, I did just that, and here's what was going on this time last year:

May 2: I was still growing out my bangs and rocking retro shades and jeans.

May 5: I hate everything about this outfit. Me Factor: Negative 100. Took a chance and it didn't pan out I guess!

May 9: I miss my long hair! Typical me kind of outfit, jeans and layers.

I seriously loved this outfit. I got rid of that hat and now I'm kind of regretting it. Also, the dress shrunk and I made it into a t-shirt.

Loved this look too. Also got rid of this hat. Don't regret it (it squished my head).

Savannah! I miss it there so badly. Can't wait to get back there, someday soon hopefully! Also can't wait for the weather to be warm enough for this dress again!

The Move Part I

The move has been going on for the past ten days.

I am sick of moving.

It's nice that we don't have anywhere we need to be out of, but that's also made us a bit lazy about moving. Not to mention neither of us were packed before we started, so we're basically just bringing things over by the car-full and dumping it.

Before we could even bring anything over, the entire place had to be scrubbed within an inch of it's life. And painted. That took FOR-EV-ER. Now things are finally starting to come together and look adorable and homey.
the office/spare room with a really crooked floor | painting our bedroom | first coat done! | skyline steel is the color we (I) chose
living room before | another angle with boyfriend creepin' | during the painting process | almost finished
kitchen before (seriously grody) | signing the lease | the mini-counter | coming together!
Up next? Getting a new dishwasher out of the landlord because - EW.

Red & Black Week: Friday Jacket

Well guys, red & black week is over! I hope you enjoyed it because I know I did. I'm already thinking up a new theme week for May.

Red & black week may be over, but my move is not. It has barely gotten started, in fact. I think we are renting the Money Pit of apartments. The place is FILTHY. My scrubbing shoulder is sore today. And I'm pretty sure the landlord is avoiding us because he knows I'm going to ask for about a million things to be fixed/replaced. Tough cookies guy, you should have done this stuff before we moved in!

Anyway, if you want to see how things are progressing, follow me on Instagram (@katastrophe313). Expect a full move update post as soon as we get settled. So, in about six months by the looks of things.

Jacket: Zara
Jeans: Gap
Boots: H&M
Shirt: French Connection via TJ Maxx
Necklace: F21
Me Factor: High. I love this jacket. Like I've said before, jacket + skinny jeans + tee = perfection.

Black & Red Week: Sock Bun

IMG_0852

So this was my first attempt at the ubiquitous sock bun! It's safe to say I am now hooked. It was super easy and definitely classier looking than my usual third-day-hair messy bun/pony. I used this tutorial and it was great. Plus her blog is super adorable, so you should all go check it out anyway.

I keep forgetting I own these boots. I feel like they look the cutest with skirts and dresses and cropped pants and bare legs, but it's still so damn cold here! Come on spring, I have cute boots to wear.

Cardigan: Old Navy
Skirt: H&M
Boots: Aldo
Me Factor: Low. I just didn't feel like myself in this. I think I'm over the cardigan + skirt/dress combo.

Black & Red Week: No... & Red Wedges

Wore this out for shopping and dinner with my new pal Gabby last week! We had such a great time, and I'm so happy to have a new girlfriend in the area. Best of all, I'm moving to the town she lives in, so it's going to be so easy for us to hang out and have girl's nights! Can't wait.

This is SUCH a me outfit. Blazer + skinny jeans + heels is my favorite look ever. The red shoes and watch added the bits of red to this outfit. I wanted to make sure I had a look in the mix that wasn't such an extreme interpretation of black and red.

Blazer: Limited
Jeans: Old Navy
Tee: StyleMint
Shoes: Urban Outfitters
Watch: Gift
Me Factor: High

Black & Red Week: Red Tights & Polka Dots

IMG_0836

This is one of those rare occasions where the outfit photographed better than it looked in the mirror. That never happens. Usually it's the complete opposite with me. (My mirror is very forgiving.)

The red tights were a bit out of my comfort zone, but I ended up not even noticing I was wearing them. Neither did my co-workers, which either means they thought I looked ridiculous or totally normal. Could go either way, I guess.

Apologies for my wrinkled skirt - I was working hard all day, sitting down. For hours on end. Wrinkle city, baby.

Shirt: H&M
Skirt: Target
Tights: Target
Boots: Zara
Sunnies: Forever 21 (splurge option that I really want)
Me Factor: Medium - Skirt + shirt = win.
