oh let the sun beat down upon my face

I've decided to do TWO posts today, you lucky kids, since I have a small backlog of pictures and I really want to get a bit more caught up for this week. Truthfully, I have outfits planned for the next two weeks-ish, so I don't want to fall too far behind! Plus I have some time right now while I'm watching some Dexter to do a little more bloggin'.

I wasn't planning on using these pictures, since I was kind of wishy washy about the outfit. Then I decided I would, clearly. It's not that bad, it just didn't come out as I had envisioned. I didn't have the scarf on all day, and I'm glad. I don't think I care for it with the rest of the outfit.

I just got back from yoga a little while ago. I think I mentioned before that my mom and I joined a new, fancy schmancy gym. We like the gym, but we tried a yoga class the first week we joined and we didn't like it. It was really fast paced, and yoga should be slower. We decided to try another class with a different instructor, since we both really like yoga. Happily, the class tonight was really great. Thank goodness, because I really missed yoga.

I can't believe I forgot to mention this in my 2010 review post, but 2010 was when I started doing yoga! Probably because I've been on a hiatus the last couple months. I started going to classes at a yoga studio in May or June. It was kind of expensive, and we wanted to do other kinds of exercise too, but couldn't afford both yoga and a gym membership. That's when we decided to join a gym instead. I was so upset when we weren't doing yoga regularly anymore. I started to feel...squished. Yoga helps me stretch out and feel relaxed and helps my posture.

I got this sweater for Christmas. It's cashmere! I love cashmere. Who doesn't, really? I'm kind of bummed though, because it's too big! I don't think it looks terrible, though. I was just expecting it to be more fitted. It's super duper cozy though so that totally makes up for it. And the sparkle socks! Tieka tweeted about them and I practically ran right out and bought them. I kind of just threw them on with this outfit on a whim, but I can't wait to start working them into more outfits. Sparkle socks people!

Now I should be all back on track for the rest of the week! And I'll stop inundating you all with rambly nonsense, haha.

1.1.11

I feel like I've been a picture taking machine this week and I am super behind on posting. Woopsies. Most of them are trapped on my brother's camera anyway. It's so weird - his is just a newer, fancier version of the Rebel but my computer totally rejects his camera.

Saturday Boyfriend and I had our first little date night of the new year. We drove into the North End and walked around and had dinner. It was so warm out on Saturday! It was in the mid-50s, it was nuts. I didn't even wear a coat most of the night, I was just bundled up in a sweater.

We found a place to eat out of the many, many choices there are in the North End. Thanks Yelp! Dinner was delish. It involved arancini, which I am completely obsessed with. To be honest, they weren't the super best I've ever had, but they were still yummo. Then we decided just to stroll around the neighborhood for a bit to work off dinner.

We ended our night with cannoli from Modern, obviously. I prefer Modern to Mike's, in case you're from Boston and know what I'm talking about and cared to know. There it is. Actually, I've just always gotten my cannoli from Modern. Maybe next time I'll try Mike's, just so I can be sure on this one. Maybe I'll get one cannoli from each place, just to be SUPER sure. Yeah... ;)

I wore my new super favoritist boots ever! I got them for Christmas from "Santa." They're like glorified hiking boots. That you could never hike in for realz. But I love them. I wish I got a better shot of them on this particular night, but alas. You'll see more of them, I promise.

Here's Boyfriend's shoes though! He was having camera issues. I call this his first foray into fashion blogging, hehe. Off to make a grocery list full of diet food and track down my brother so he can assist with this camera upload situation I got goin' on. Bye!

happy new year, too

It's 2011 you guys! That means I'll be writing 2010 on everything for the next few months until that sinks in. What did you all do for New Years? Mine was pretty basic - the Bestie, the Boyfriend and I joined the rest of my family at my grandparents for a night of yummy food, board games, and rum. Hehe.

This is totally my kind of night. Spending time with my family, good snacks, and board games. I can't help it - I"m just not a party girl. I'm a homebody, and I am totally okay with that. Plus, my family is really a lot of fun. Ask anyone who has spent time with them. My friends actually enjoy hanging out with them because it's a guaranteed good time. Lots of laughing.

Those three are going to kill me for posting a picture of them. They should be thankful I didn't use one of the worse ones.  Sorry to mom,  Aunty Susan and Grammy!

Jamie brought a bottle of Black Seal rum for us to enjoy, and we definitely did. I'd never had it before but it was really good. Then we played Pictionary, which just so happens to be me and Jamie's favorite game. Because we are AWESOME at it. Seriously, they had to change the rules we're that good.

That's the look of triumph right there. Jamie and I have always played Pictionary where if your team guesses the clue, you go again. And you keep going until someone steals the play on an All Play or you lose the round. We've lapped all our other competitors around the game board before, hehe. We're really good. It's because we're biffs and on the same brain wave. ;)
Anyway, they made a rule that after three turns in a row you have to pass play on to the next team. Fair enough. But Jamie and I still won! We rule.

Poor Boyfriend had to go into work on New Years Eve. He works the overnight shift at his work and unfortunately they don't get the holiday off. He had been out all afternoon and only managed to grab a quick nap before joining us for festivities. What a trooper. I was really glad he was there to kiss at midnight though. ;)

Great night with great people - I felt so lucky to be able to ring in 2011 with my favorites!

Bonus shot of some random Grammy & Grampy memorabilia: Some sweet army men (British army men?) and the super creepy doll my grandmother has. Usually her little porcelain arms are pointing all creepily and her porcelain tongue actually flops around in her mouth. I don't know why. It's weird.  My grandparents used to live on Cape Cod. Imagine coming downstairs at night, in the dark, the moon shining into the living room through the skylight and illuminating that doll. And it's pointing at you. Yeah.

Even that little bear is trying to keep the doll away with it's little bell.

Anyway! Happy New Year everyone! Let's hope 2011 is a good one!
