fly away home

This is actually the outfit I wore today. That so rarely happens! I may have skipped over another outfit in order to post this on the day I wore it, but pretend I didn't tell you that.

The fact that I had to put on tights today was deeply depressing. I can't wait until the weather is warm enough that I can bare my legs again.

My brother is gone until Monday, so it looks like a lot of time spent with my tripod until he gets back. I don't mind tripod pictures - I actually feel more comfortable taking pictures of myself by myself - but I usually get too lazy to lug the tripod anywhere outside where people may see it, hence the indoor pictures today.

Speaking of my brother going away...My mom was packing his suitcase for him (yes, he's 23 years old and my mother still packs his suitcase) and planning his outfits, since he needs to look nice for some of the things he's doing on his trip. I made the mistake of asking her what he planned on putting on his feet, since he only owns two mangy pairs of shoes (I know, horrifying. Between my mother and I we have practically enough shoes to rival Imelda Marcos). Long story short, the three of us - Mom, Brother and me - ended up going shopping for shoes for him. He claimed he couldn't go alone because mom would just criticize his shoe choices, and I went along to witness the debacle this was sure to be.

A half hour later my brother had three new pairs of shoes. All of which were picked out by my mother and I. So maybe he was right about not being allowed to dress himself.

Speaking of shoes...I love the ones I was wearing today. I was too late to jump on the Jeffrey Campbell Splendid bandwagon, so these are the Forever 21 version. Only problem? They run slightly big and they feel like they are going to decapitate my toes. It's super depressing. I have my eye on a similar pair that I might buy, since I don't think these Forever 21 ones come in a smaller size. I can't find them online anymore either and I haven't seen them in my store again.

I am so in love with this belt. I got it for my birthday last month, forgot about it, then got really excited when I saw it peeking out from the nest of belts I have. I plan on wearing it a lot more now that I remembered it. I have a soft spot for sparrows (or whatever these birds are. Swallows?). One of my tattoos (the first one I ever got) looks very similar to these guys. Also noticing that it appears I wore it upside down. Whoopsie poops.

engineer boots, leather jackets and tight blue jeans

I'm not feeling super wordy today so I'll keep it short. How was everyone's weekend? Mine was lovely and relaxing. The weather wasn't super warm, but it was sunny which was nice. Now it's rain, rain, rain all week long in the forecast. Those April showers apparently are not kidding around this year.

This was just a simple, rock and roll type of outfit. It felt very old-school me. I tend to either be sort of tomboy-girly - short, flirty dresses and skirts, flowy tops - or a little bit rock and roll - lots of black, leather, studs and silver. Luckily for me, the two styles play nice together and I can mix and match whenever I please. I plan on wearing this jacket over lots of girly dresses and skirts this spring. If spring ever arrives, that is.

Time to go tie on the sneakers and get in my gym clothes, this past week/weekend was full of way too many indulgences!

the owls are not what they seem

It snowed today. No, this is not an April Fools. This was just super unfortunate and depressing and not funny at all. I busted out the layers for what is hopefully the last time. I need a tan! I look all sad and seasonal affective disorder-y.

I'm so glad this week is finally over. It went by quickly, but for some reason I was just not feeling it. Happily it is the weekend now and I plan on maxin' and relaxin'. I think tomorrow I am going to try to make some homemade bread. I've never made bread before. Yeast frightens me. On Sunday I plan on making cranberry scones and working on some sewing projects. Super exciting right? I'm pretty sure the average 75 year old has the same weekend plans as me.

Actually, tomorrow I am going with my BFF when she gets her next tattoo. So take THAT Grannies! Then we're having a movie night because we are planning a trip to Savannah in May and mom says we need to watch Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil first. I've never seen it, but John Cusack and Jude Law are in it, so it's A-OK in my book.

I"m pretty excited to go to Savannah. I've just always wanted to go there. I am already plotting all my Southern Belle outfits. Plus, the hotel I think we're going to stay at is advertised as being only fifty steps away from Paula Deen's restaurant! Just fifty steps from sticks and sticks of butter! Heaven.

So far tonight I've just been editing pictures and dancing around my room to Newsies and Biggie. With a lilttle Sweet Caroline thrown in there in honor of opening day! Can't wait to get me to some Sox games this year. Right now I have to go pry my brother away from his computer so we can go watch Twin Peaks, hence the title of this post. We're about halfway through season two, and it feels like the series should be over, so I guess we'll find out what the heck else happens on this show. We like to pretend we're in the 90s when we watch it. That involves saying "Oh no talking on cell phones!" whenever a cell phone rings. It also involves him saying "Hey what is that guy from?" and me saying "We'll never know! IMDB doesn't exist yet!" We think it's funny.
