Cozy & Casual: Navy & Brown

Just a very casual and comfy outfit for a chilly day. Sometimes you just want to put on worn out sweatpants and an over-sized hoodie and hibernate, even though you may have to go to work and at least pretend to be a viable member of society. On occasions like that the big cozy sweater and comfy jeans step in to save the day. Add a hat to cover the hair you didn't feel like washing and you're good to go.

I feel like I've been crazy busy lately, and I suppose I have. It's been all good, fun stuff, but I feel like I need a week of hibernation just to collect myself again.

In other news, I went on my first "blogger date" over the weekend with Casey of Girl in the Poodle Shoes, and it was so much fun! I'll be doing a separate post on that later in the week, so stay tuned!

Man, all the dead trees and leaves is so depressing. We're in the home stretch now, kids! I don't care what that groundhog says, spring is just around the corner! I have so much to look forward to this spring I can't even stand it. Later this week I'm heading down to Charlotte to visit Helen! Then at the end of March Boyfriend and I are heading to Disney, and then when we get back we're going to start looking for apartments! It's going to be an exciting (and expensive!) spring, that's for sure.

This dress is one that's had a lot of mileage (see remixes below!). For a Forever 21 find that's not too shabby. The color and pattern are just vague enough to basically be a neutral, so there's really not much in my closet that wouldn't mix with this dress. Don't you love pieces like that? That's my shopping goal for this year, to buy more pieces that have a lot of mix and match value.

What are your wardrobe workhorses?

These pictures are from before Christmas, when winter was still being mild and lovely. It was 11 degrees when I left for work this morning. ELEVEN. DEGREES. I am currently snuggled up in a cozy cardigan with my hot cocoa. I'm so exhausted today. I had plans to go go the gym, and just could not make myself go.

I've been feeling a bit like I'm coming down with something and I've been trying super hard t keep it at bay. I like to think I'm exhausted because my immune system is working over time to keep me healthy. So instead of going to the gym, I watched about two hours of Man Vs. Food. Healthy exchange, I'm sure.

Well, it's looking like a super early night for this nana, and hopefully a more well-rested, productive day tomorrow!

Hey. Remember me? I've been crazy-busy, hence the absence. Other than my Friday Challenge posts. I'm hoping things will calm down slightly after the holidays. Or that I'll at least feel more calmed down after some time off. Work is absolutely killing me right now and it's torture being there all day, so by the time I get home I don't have much motivation for anything else.

I've also been trying to make plans for My Future that will hopefully allow me to leave that horrid place, getting ready for Christmas, and being a good friend and going out and being social. I've also been doing a MAJOR purge of my belongings. I'm trying to set myself up to start the new year nice and fresh and clean. What's new with you guys? Excited for the holidays!?

Though you can't tell in these pictures due to the sun, I dyed my hair again. It's sort of a dark, reddish-auburn color now. I'm affectionately calling it my "sophisticated Angela Chase" look. I also inadvertently dressed kind of 90s today too. Combat-like boots, patterned dress, chunky knit sweater. Comfy, cozy and easy. Just as good as the Forever Lazy, only so much cuter. Though my outfit doesn't have a butt-flap. Darn.

Unseasonably Warm

It has been, as the title of this post states, unseasonably warm. I am NOT complaining.  I'll take balmy temps instead of a snowstorm any day. Of course, if this weather continues, it means the majority of the winter sweaters I've bought this year (um, I went a little nuts with sweaters) will go largely unused. This is a sacrifice I am willing to make. I doubt we'll make it through the winter without a few sub-zero days and snowstorms but a girl can dream, right?

come on spring!

I'm getting pretty good at pushing Picnik to it's limits. I really wish they'd come up with a product I can buy and keep forever, rather than having to continually pay for the upgraded account. I paid for it a couple months, and it had some cool features, but I've gone back to the free stuff. It's not as involved as Photoshop, but it gets the basic job done.

This outfit is from last week. The weather has been hovering in the high 30s, low 40s here in New England and I would give just about anything for things to warm up! I was saving this dress for a nice warm, sunny spring day but finally caved and wore it even though it was cloudy. I just love everything about it.

It came with an attached fabric belt, but I like switching out belts, so the attached one had to go. A couple quick snips and voila! Belt was gone. Luckily it was only attached with two small stitches. Now I can mix and match belts to my heart's content, and the one that I snipped off is still totally usable.

I've been itching to do some sewing/crafting lately. Jessica from What I Wore has been seriously inspiring me with all the super clever things she's been posting lately. I have a dress I started making out of one of Boyfriend's old shirts, but it got abandoned somewhere along the way. I think I'm going to dig it out this weekend and finish it.

Boyfriend and I have been trying to think of things to do when we hang out. Instead of sitting around, drinking wine, eating, and watching Jeopardy. Not that there's anything wrong with that...but we're 25 and we have plenty of years of Jeopardy ahead of us.

Anyone have any good (cheap) date ideas? If you're from the Boston area, any cool places we can check out? We're open to adventures!
