This past weekend was all kinds of amazing. On Saturday I went snowboarding for the second time ever, and I didn't hate it! I'll do a separate post all about it once I get the pictures of me (snowboarding!) from Boyfriend.

On Sunday I purged almost my entire closet. I pulled out all my clothes and weeded through them, trying everything on and getting rid of things that didn't fit right or that I didn't love. There were so many things that were too big for me! Best feeling ever. Bags and bags of stuff are going to Goodwill and I still have to go through all my pants and sweaters. I'm trying to really simplify things and not use this as an excuse to fill my closet to bursting again!

I know I'll be moving in a few months, and I really don't want to shlep all this clutter with me, so I'm trying to go through all my stuff and be really strict about what stays and what goes. It isn't easy, that's for sure!

And right on cue my mom just came into my room and handed me some brand new hot pink hanging file folders! I'm off to file things!

Man, all the dead trees and leaves is so depressing. We're in the home stretch now, kids! I don't care what that groundhog says, spring is just around the corner! I have so much to look forward to this spring I can't even stand it. Later this week I'm heading down to Charlotte to visit Helen! Then at the end of March Boyfriend and I are heading to Disney, and then when we get back we're going to start looking for apartments! It's going to be an exciting (and expensive!) spring, that's for sure.

This dress is one that's had a lot of mileage (see remixes below!). For a Forever 21 find that's not too shabby. The color and pattern are just vague enough to basically be a neutral, so there's really not much in my closet that wouldn't mix with this dress. Don't you love pieces like that? That's my shopping goal for this year, to buy more pieces that have a lot of mix and match value.

What are your wardrobe workhorses?

playing with proportion

This might be one of my all-time favorite looks I have ever come up with. It was definitely a risk for me, actually. The tops is kind of floaty and boxy and the skirt is more figure conscious. Normally, I would tuck the top into the skirt, but that just wasn't looking right to me, and it felt too dressed up for work. So I un-tucked the shirt. I didn't think this look would be flattering on me, but I liked the way it looked in the mirror, so I went about my day. I got home, took some pictures, and even liked the way it looked in pictures. Which I'm sure as we all know isn't always the case - you know you've put on an outfit, looked in the mirror and felt pretty fly, then took a picture and cringed.

But sometimes the risk pays off. Even if it's not a huge risk. Even if the risk is as small as untucking your shirt. Risks are important. Take one a day and call me next week if your life doesn't improve.

In other news, I am completely addicted to the game Spy Mouse on my iPhone. I can't stop. This little mouse with the bow tie (bow ties are COOL) (Meg) has stolen my heart. And all my free time. Plus? The nemesis in this game is obviously cats, and I don't like cats! So Spy Mouse and I are united on that front. I think I need to go feed my addiction...
