Friday Favorite: Chambray Shirts

What: Chambray Shirt (the one above is from J.Crew Factory, but there are tons of other options out there!)

Why: It goes with e v e r y t h i n g. No joke. You've seen them all over the place for a reason. A good one will be soft, faded, and just slightly over sized. That's the way I like them, anyway. I literally wear mine every single weekend and sometimes during the week. I actually have three different chambray shirts now so I can rotate them. I am obsessed. I am wearing one right now.

The moral of this blog post is: go buy a chambray shirt.

Friday Favorite: Barre Workout

On Wednesday night G and I went to our first ever real life barre class. I told you guys we'd been doing some DVDs and loved them, so when a LivingSocial deal to a popular place in the area popped up we snagged it.

We are addicted.

We are going to go broke going to barre classes. Why is fitness so expensive?! It's $15 a class, man. If you only go once a week that's still $60/mo. More expensive than some gym memberships. Life is cruel.

So we're saving all our monies to do this. Because it is awesome. You should all try it out for yourselves. Get some DVDs, YouTube that shit, go to a class if you can. This is a no joke workout that is also super fun.

When I told a co-worker I went to a barre class she said "Do you dress like ballerinas?!" and was disappointed when I said no. I'm sure we could dress like ballerinas if we wanted to. Maybe next time.

My calves and booty and thighs are keeeeling me. I love it.

Friday Favorite: Hoodie Footie

What: The Hoodie Footie

Why: Um, look at this thing. It could not BE any more cozy and comfy. This is your best friend when you are sick, cold, sad, happy, have no more clean clothes....It's really a romper for all occasions. Made out of the softest material ever. So you look like you're wearing the bunny costume from A Christmas Story. Doesn't matter. It's worth it.

Price: $79.99, which is obscene. I only own this because someone gave it to my mom as a gift and she didn't want it. YOUR LOSS, MOM.

Friday Favorite: Clarisonic Mia

I'm bringing back the Friday Favorite!

It's easy to write. I will never run out of Favorite Things. And I love sharing my favorite things with people.

We're jumping back in with my beloved Clarisonic Mia brush:

What?: Clarisonic Mia Skin Care System. I have the blue one, just like above, but it comes in a bunch of different colors (and patterns)!

Why?: It gets your skin super clean and soft. Seriously, the best thing ever. I can definitely see a change in my skin. It's clearer and smoother than ever. And obviously, the more often you use it, the better the results. I use it once a day at night, but I'm thinking about bumping it up to twice a day. Winter is the ideal time to really break out this bad boy. In the summer I use it a bit less, since I don't want to exfoliate off what little tan I get on my face. Terrible, I know.

How much?: $120. Worth every penny. You do need to switch out the brush head every so often, and those cost $25. They recommend every three months but I may have gone a year before I replaced mine...oops. I'd say you can use your own discretion on this. I'm sure they get germy and gross, but I gave mine a good scrubbing every once in awhile and it was fine.

Friday Favorite: Old Navy Super Skinny Jeans

What?: Old Navy Super Skinny Jeans

How much?: $34.94

Why?: These are just the best skinny jeans out there, in my opinion. Granted, I'm not frolicking around in Citizens of Humanity or J Brand, so I can't speak for those high-end brands, but for the price you just can't beat these. The fit is incredible - stretchy enough to be super comfortable, but structured enough to keep you from looking like Queen of the Thunder Thighs. They also come in various lengths on Old Navy.com. The regular ones fit my short little legs perfectly, so I would say that they run on the short side. I could probably buy the short length for a cropped look and you lucky long legged ladies definitely want to buy the longer length. Seriously - give them a try.

Friday Favorite: Dior Addict Lip Glow

What?: Dior Addict Lip Glow

How Much?: $30

Why?: I can't believe this wasn't the first Friday Favorite I posted. This is honestly the best lip product ever in the whole world. It's definitely pricey for a lip gloss, no doubt about it, but the tube lasts a very long time and I used mine down to the very bottom of the tube. Cost per use is probably a negative amount at this point.

It is, like the name says, addictive. It smells like vanilla, makes your lips feel luscious and soft, and also gives them a perfect pink flush. It's your lips, only so, so much better. I don't even know why I bother with any other lip product, since by the end of the day I've defaulted to this stuff anyway.

Friday Favorite: Sephora Instant Nail Polish Remover

What?: Sephora Instant Nail Polish Remover

How Much?: $10

Why?: This was purchased on a whim a couple months ago. The label touts it as being MAGIC and able to remove even the toughest nail polish. I took it home and immediately tested it my using it to remove layers of glitter nail polish. AND IT WORKED. It worked perfectly. Any glitter polish lover knows what a pain it can be to get that stuff off. Just stick your finger in this remover, let it sit for a second, then rub it up against the sponge inside et voila! Glitter gone (and nails prepared for another coat of it, of course!).

Cons?: It did not work on my shellac manicure, liked I hoped it would. But really, I don't get shellac manicures very often so this is not a huge con for me. Just putting it out there that shellac polish is a you-know-what to get off, even with MAGIC.

Friday Favorite: Refinery 29

What?: Refinery 29

Why?: I'm pretty much obsessed with this website. They have all the fashion and shopping news you could ever want, and I love all their slideshows. I have a thing for slideshows. They also bring my attention to things like this. Not to mention their Reserve has tons of amazing deals on extremely covetable goodies.

They have specific pages dedicated to New York, San Francisco, DC, Los Angeles, Chicago and Miami (please come to Boston, Refinery 29!) and their Everywhere page that covers, well, everything. Something for everyone here!

Friday Favorite: Help! I Have a Blister

What: Help: I have a blister hydrocolloid bandages.

Why?: These are the best bandages for blisters and uncomfortable shoes. They're made out of a thick, clear, gel-like substance that helps to heel blisters as well as alleviates the rubbing that caused them in the first place.

The package is small, so it can easily be slipped into a purse for days when you're breaking in new shoes or just plan on doing a lot of walking. I know they're definitely coming to Disney with me in a few weeks! They're nice and cushy and are great for back of the heel blisters.

How much?: $4 for one pack of 8 bandages, $20 for 6 packs (with 8 bandages per pack). You can get the single packs at Walgreens or Target. I'm planning on buying the 6 pack option next time around!

Friday Favorite: Madewell Sweater

 What? Madewell Topnote Cardigan


Why? This is one of the best cardigans I have ever owned. I seriously have a weird obsession with it. I picked it up on a whim while on a trip to Charlotte back in February, and I came home and bought another one in a different color. I now have it in plum orchid (purple) and juniper berry (navy blue). I've been holding myself back from buying it in red and white as well.

It fits perfectly. The sleeves are fitted without being too tight and the hem hits right at my hips - not too long, not too short. The v-neck is flattering and the knit is thick enough to be warm on a cold day but it's also not so wintery looking that you couldn't swap your hoodie out for this sweater during a chilly summer night.


How much? Most colors are on sale for $49.50. The plum orchid color still says $69.50 online, but I got it for the $49.50 price in store. I know this is pricey for a cardigan, but it's worth it. Everything I've ever purchased at Madewell has held up really well - they are honestly made well. It's a classic cardigan that goes with everything and you'll have it for years.
